U14 Match report v Littlehampton

 

Sunday 25 June 2017, 0930, Middleton U14  v Littlehampton, Clapham & Patching at Middleton CC.

Middleton won the toss and elected to field.

Some impressive bowling contained Littlehampton, Clapham & Patching to a total of 85, all out in 18.3 overs.

Charlie Maginnis took the wickets of both opening batsmen, 2 for 13. The visiting side were 3 wickets down within the 4th over with Jonny Simmonds taking 1 wicket for 10.

Littlehampton steadied themselves reaching 65 before the next wicket was taken in the 11 over by Harry Leaver, 1 wicket for 15.

Bowler #7 was Rocco Gamblin who then proceeded to take 3 wickets off 2 overs for just 4 runs, including a 2 wicket maiden!

Ben Mackley and Matthew Pearce finished the innings off, each taking a wicket, 1 for 3 and 1 for none respectively.

10 players took their turn at bowling and Zak Cogger, with a safe pair of hands behind the stumps, each contributed in containing the tally.

Rocco got the batting underway, partnered with Charlie. Rocco, having impressed with the ball, did not disappoint with the bat either, scoring 24 before being caught.

Charlie retired on 25, another impressive innings which included 4 boundaries.

At the half-way stage, Middleton were slightly behind the score posted by Littlehampton at the same stage in the match, the difference with Middleton still having plenty of wickets in hand.

However, it then took just another 4.1 overs for Zak Cogger (15 NO) and Matt Pearce (17 NO) to get Middleton over the line to win the match in the 15th over. Middleton won by 8 wickets.
