Colts Update, Volunteers, subsidised coaching course.

The training continues to be well supported, the indoor teams are enjoying some challenging matches and developing their skills, whilst having fun.

The final colts league entries will be communicated soon. It is quite a task to ensure that we are able to offer appropriate cricket at many age groups. The cricket leagues offer a choice of formats,in the younger age range, u9-12 pairs cricket. This enables everyone to enjoy a full part in the game. We will try to take full advantage of this, as well as the more traditional style of cricket.

A gap, we have identified is volunteers at u9-10 age group. Last year Andy Harvey assisted. We really do need to find parents, family members who will assist with the management and running of this age group. Tasks would include some arranging, communication, running the match, scoring. All of this is common sense and although having knowledge of cricket helps, it certainly is not essential. There are plenty of people who can advise and assist. It is really about letting our players play cricket in a fun environment.

Following on from this, we have the arranged to subsidise places on ECB Coach Support Worker Course.
This one day course at Littlehampton on 15th March, is a great entry point to gain some knowledge and really assist our young players. I really hope that you will consider this.

Without some further assistance, we may not be able to enter as many league teams as we would like. This will reduce opportunities for our young players.

I can give further information and advice. (I am one of the Tutors running the course).

Good luck to all our players who are involved in training for County and Warriors.

The coaches are delighted with the progress and enthusiasm of all our players, its so good to see smiling faces enjoying their cricket.

On the senior side, our players are training hard, with some very interesting development, as they approach their first season in the Sussex County Premier League.

Last night our Senior indoor team won their league. Congratulations to the squad. Who I am sure celebrated with the customary visit to the Indian Restaurant.

I am sure the England cricket team are planning to peak in the next few weeks, as the World Cup moves into the knock out stages!!

If you have any ideas or would like to assist then please make contact with me directly or any of the colts volunteers.
