SJCF U11 Bowl result and review.

Delightful weather again as the team travelled to East Brighton Park to play St Peters.

St Peters batted first, with two strong county openers.
Middleton team led by James Carter, bowled with great discipline, 10 overs 30 for no wicket.

The bowling was changed around and everyone was given an opportunity, as the patient and selective batters continued to put scoring 166, in 28 overs, batting 2 hours. A superb exhibition and one which all players should learn from. Play straight, hit the bad ball for 4 and run singles.

Christian Bellamy took 2 late wickets as the declaration loomed. Special mention to Murray Carter u9,( the next Mark Boucher) ? A superb catch and great work all afternoon. Jess and Holly our girls bowled and fielded superbly as did the whole team.

St Peters 176-2 29 overs.

Middleton had 33 overs batting, a big total for such a young side.

The batters showed good discipline and clearly had learnt through the week. All showing good concentration against a varied attack, supported by an enthusiastic group of fielders.

Wickets fell steadily, but many players contributed to the team, as we batted, scoring when possible.
Ben Taylor was given great support by George Fountain, Alfie DW and Ted Eismark and we edged towards a 100 runs, with overs ticking away. Ben batted 76 balls in nearly 2 hours, before being caught a slip.

Ted, full of nervous energy, continued to hit the bad ball and defend well, Chrsitian clearly going for the win, hit 3 fours and went quickly.
Jess batting 11, showed calm skills and good technique, St Peters a little concerned, now over 31…however the spinner had the final say, Ted bowled by a skidder,

Midleton 106 in 31.

Victory to St Peters.

However, a great effort by the Middleton TEAM.
Much fun, friendship and progress throughout the week.
Matches at some lovely venues, many thanks to all the teams.

Special thanks to the team of parents for supporting, mostly Mums, particularly Deb Taylor and Carmen for their scoring throughout the week.

The SJCF always provides a great opportunity for our young cricketers, to experience a week of cricket, establishing friendships, teamwork, together with our cricket skills and love of the game.

Thanks to everyone, its time to sit down and have a holiday.
