Middleton’s U12’s v Littlehampton U12’s‏

Middleton’s U12’s recorded a close  fought victory over Littlehampton this weekend to strengthen their  position at the top of the Indoor league with just one game to  go.
Middleton 99-2
Littlehampton 92-3.
Middleton won by 7 runs.
Runs for Lewis Faint 21 n.o, Jack Dawling 20 n.o. and Ben  Peach 20 n.o.
An excellent opening partnership between Jack and Ben Peach, well supported  by Lewis at number 3, looked like setting-up Middleton for another big score  however some tight bowling by Littlehampton in the later stages of the innings  eventually restricted the score to 99.
Defending a score of under a hundred meant that Middleton needed to  concentrate fully on their bowling and fielding and although Littlehampton  threatened for much of their innings to reach their target gradually Middleton  got on top of things.
Some impressive bowling from Sam, Matt, both Ben’s and Lewis was  complimented with 2 run-outs and a fine stumping by Jack from Ben Taylor’s  bowling was witnessed however Littlehampton still only required a very  ‘gettable’ 10 runs off the last over.
Over to Sam Bell who, ably supported by some incredible  fielding, under pressure bowled a wonderfully controlled last over  conceding a mere 3 runs steering the team to a close 7 run victory.
Once again many thanks to all the parents who supported –  helmets will be supplied for each of you in future! – and to Iain  for scoring.
Best Regards
Mark
