MCC Colts, Planning ahead and future development.

Much work has been going on behind the scenes, with committee meetings, development plans and reports being submitted to the Sussex Cricket Board.

The nets will be upgraded next spring and further equipment purchased to ensure our facilities remain top quality.

The winter training schedule has commenced with many players in the West Area squads and  girls attending trials. I am pleased to report Jess Young u12, has been succesful at her first county trial and has been invited to a further assessment for the U13 squad.

Our winter training programme is nearly confirmed and will be communicated.

Rob Maier is committed to working with the club, as coach to the senior teams and junior academy training. Our coaching team continues to increase in quality and numbers.

Senior Cricket.

A major initiative next year will be the formation of an Academy side, which will play on Saturdays. This will enable our u15/16, players to play with senior players to develop their skills. The team is likely to play in the West Sussex League. The final details are yet to be confirmed.

Perhaps an opportunity for some Dad’s to get the whites on, we are planning some special coaching sessions, please let me know if this is of interest.

Colts.

We have identified a number of areas where we need to develop further.

Girls cricket. A joint initiative with another local club is being discussed. This will allow a full team to be entered into competitions. We will still play girls in boys teams if appropriate.

Volunteers.

The winter see’s training courses for Coaches, umpires and scorers. Many of these lead to qualifications. Welfare Officer, Sally Rawstrone is the cricket welfare officer, it has been agreed that it is vital we identify and train, (a short evening course), another volunteer.

Team managers, helping to organise the teams, no cricket experience required.

Publicity Press releases.

We have details of all courses available, contact me direct.

Assistance  on the ground or fund-raising is very welcome. We are planning a 100 club and need someone to assist with setting this up. A larger group of volunteers is essential, if we are to continue to provide a top quality cricket experience, for our young players and attract further members.

Please take a minute to see if you can assist… to help us achieve our aim of being the best cricket club in Sussex.

A superb 2012, what will 2013 bring?

Please contact me for any further information or advice .
