Match Report U10 V East Preston

A glorious  evening at Middleton saw the development team play East Preston in their final league match.

There were debuts for Eve Boulos and Zac Cogger. The team of u8/9 players displayed a great range of skills competing well.

East Preston won, mainly thanks to a 4 wicket over, including a hat trick from Alex Roberts, congratulations.

Christian and James Carter scored a total of 27 runs in their 4 overs. With a combination of great strokeplay and rather frantic running, which again caused some panic in the fielding side.

I thought the East Preston fielding was of a very high standard and the wicket keeper impressed.

Our fielding and bowling was impressive, everyone should be very proud of what they have achieved this year. The stopping, throwing and backing up was top class.

All our batters displayed good technique against a more mature team, some who bowled quite fast for u10 players.Run scoring at this age is difficult, running between wickets is  really  important, as boundaries are difficult to hit. The batting technique combined with more strength will allow our players to develop.

Congratulations to all the squad.
