Middleton Colts U10 V Arundel U10’s Indoor League

Sunday saw the climax to the league with the undefeated teams going head to head, to take the title. Middleton were missing 2 regular players, but with strength in depth confidence was high.
Arundel, fielding 2 county u10 players were tough opposition.  The match went to the final ball, when a 6 hit by Sam Bell secured the victory.
Sam 30 no, had batted through, with fantastic support from Phoenix Ashworth 19 no.
Arundel had been restricted to 65, all out off the final ball of the innings. Again the consistency of bowling and batting from the Middleton boys  kept a very talented team to a reasonably small total.
However, the strength of bowling and fielding from Arundel, rocked the Middleton boys, Ben Taylor out early, Jay, stayed a while, but found runs difficult. Sam meanwhile was finding the fielders with strong straight drives, runs were difficult to find. Aaron, came in and raised the tempo with a 6, however more wickets fell,  to good catching…Arundel on top.
7 overs Middleton 30-4..game over?
Enter,  Phoenix, with some very classy batting and running, Sam stood tall and managed to hit the back wall a number of times.
The final over was bowled, great tension,  2 needed..5 dot balls…then Sam finds the middle of the bat and the gap…6…Middleton win by a whisker.
A great game played out by two very good sides,  a real showcase for our young cricketers.
Many thanks to both clubs, umpires and supporters, who ensured the game was played competitively, but to the spirit of the game.
Middleton U10’s have now played 2 seasons and remain unbeaten at U10, a brilliant achievement.
Well done to all who have played; Sam Bell, Ben Taylor, Matt Bellamy, Jay Cockaday, Lewis Tetley, Aaron Tester, Christian Bellamy and Phoenix Ashworth.
