u12s v Eastergate 26th Feb Match Report

Middleton U12’s indoor campaign continued on Sunday with a competitive and well contested game against Eastergate, arguably the strongest team in the league who field one of the strongest U12 players in the county.

Losing the toss Middleton were put into bat first and set about their task excellently from the off. A rapid opening partnership between Jack Dawling and Ben Peach soon had Eastergate looking towards their key player to slow down the run rate however when Ben was caught Olly Humphreys, Lewis Faint and Dominic Hammond continued where the openers left off.

Runs for Jack Dawling 21, Olly Humphreys 20 and Lewis Faint 19.

Alas a total of 107, which based on previous games was probably a high enough score to have won, proved a catchable score for Eastergate with their key player smashing 38 runs to secure victory with a couple of overs to play.

All the players bowled with Dominic’s 2 overs asking the opposition batsmen a number of probing questions and some excellent fielding was witnessed throughout the opposition’s innings.

Middleton 107-3.
Eastergate 110-1.

Eastergate won by 3 wickets.(Due to late illness both teams fielded only 5 players)

The result means that Middleton’s U12’s now have two wins from four matches with one game to play against Bognor on 25th March at 2.30pm.

Once again many thanks to all the parents who supported.
Best Regards
Mark
