U10 Indoor League – Match Report 15th January

Another round of matches this weekend with the U10 team, playing Littlehampton.

A debut for PhoenixAshworth, in the absence of the Bellamy Brothers who are currently touring in Jamica.

The opposition were short of numbers and a Littlehampton U11 played as a fielder and captain, we also provided an extra fielder.

Losing the toss and batting first Ben Taylor and Sam Bell started well, hitting the ball consistantly, but lacked decisive calling and running, one or two boundaries followed before Ben was caught behind by the U11 player.

Sam continued strongly with Jay, watchful, holding up one end with some wristy flicks…Sam retiredat 25, and Lewis Tetley, Aaron Tseter and Phoenix were able to bat and contribute helping Sam who returned, as wickets fell, to a total of 81. This was a little short, some more running would have got us to 100. Sam retired with 35, plenty of good straight powerful drives.

Littlehampton fielded well, stopping plenty of boundary shots.

Tight bowling and fielding from all players, with a variety of seam and spin saw the opposition restricted to 61-2

Wickets for Jay Cockaday and Ben Taylor.

Sam Bell hit the stumps twice but the bails were not dislodged!

It was good to see Phoenix, Lewis and Aaron performing and improving as they gain more experience.

A comfortable win as we continue unbeaten in our second year of U10 indoor cricket.

Well done to all the players and many thnaks to all supporters, especially Debbie Taylor for organising the team and scoring

Regards, Brian
